I can ping the router and access it’s control interface (192.168.1.1). However that’s as far as I can get. No internet connectivity at all.
Fresh install of OpenSUSE 10.2; Network card configured with static IP address;same NIC and same box on same router works fine on Windows with identical network settings. As a complete Linux virgin, I am certain I have overlooked a simple setting of some sort. Anything in particular I should double-check? Thanks!
If you assign a static IP address, then you have to set these things:
IP address (of course), netmask
default gateway
DNS server(s)
You probably forgot the last. Usually it’s the router as routers these days contain a DNS proxy.
If you had chosen configure by DHCP all this would have been taken care of.
