camera not working in DigiKam 4.6

After adding the Gnome Desktop using yast my camera no longer works using Gnome Desktop …everything is fine when using KDE …

If i log in with Gnome and start Digikam / import / camera ( Panasonic ) i get an error saying that Digikam failed to connect and need to configure Digikam .The camera is auto detected and i have added it manually . Also used PTP and PC / usb drive mode .etc

I would like to use the Gnome desktop as it is much faster and easier to use but dont want to change the way i use images using another application such as F-Spot and Gimp for editing as it is much slower than Digikam

Also when the camera is plugged i get a box asking to open F-spot …how can this be changed to read Digikam ?

I have adjusted and tweaked the settings to point to Digikam for photos but has no effect !

OpenSuse 13.2 x64
Gnome 3
Digikam 4.6.

Thanks for any advice

Now …i have discovered more about what it is not that is causing my digital camera ( Panasonic Lumix DMC - FS3 ) not to connect in Digikam

It is not Open Suse ,it is not Digikam 4.6, 4.4, 4.2 …it will not connect in Ubuntu Gnome 14.1 either …!

So it i think it may be that Gnome 3 is missing some dependancy files …looking on other forums other people have had this problem with Gnome not connecting with their camera even when it is auto detected in Digikam .
