Calibre update requires newer freetype fonts --2 (previous 1 deleted)

Updating calibre library program required updating of freetype fonts. There is a similar thread where solution was found by downloading version 2.13.2 rpm file from
community .

When trying to install the rpm through yast, “conflict resolution” says 77 packages need to be deinstalled.

I see many packages I use often there. This does not seem like a useful solution.
In the meantime calibre works fine w/o update so no harm; no foul.

Any alternatives to updating freetype fonts w/o removing all these packages.

thanks, tom kosvic

one solution is to install the flatpak version. That’s what i did, because Calibre used to create “conflicts” from time to time when there is an update.

Just use the flatpak, even the developer of Calibre recommends not using distro packages, for reasons just like this.

Please do not use your distribution provided calibre package, as those are often buggy/outdated. Instead use the Binary install described below.

Calibre is not available for Leap with official repos, only Community repos provide it.
