SO, I want to install Cairo-dock.
I have searched RPM’s online with google.
I have found in short no RPM’s listed for 13.1.
I have found some old ones for 12x.
I saw some also for… Factory and Tumbleweed listed.
I finally enabled Factory and disabled the standard repos momentarily to get it.
It’s not there!?
So anyone have a clue how to get and install Cairo-dock in OpenSUSE 13.1?
I just installed this from the install DVD not that I think it matters but if it does.
It’s also about the only thing I can’t find for a basic setup. I use this computer in my classes.
It’s a small easy to carry notebook.
I usually run Xfce and wanted to get Cairo-dock here but seems unable and there seems also no ‘selection’ of the other docks commonly available in Linux?

No, I’m not interested in Docky and Gnome stuff and actually… I have been away from KDE for ages but for the purpose of class thought it might be interesting for the kids with the 3D eye candy so I also want something that will play nicely there.
Also just familiar with Cairo-dock for my uses.
At the moment it seems to not exist? Yes, I also saw it listed in Packman but… it’s not showing up.
If that doesn’t help, please open a new thread and explain what you mean exactly with “Audacious music player asks for a dependency that seems unable to be met”, i.e. exact error message, where/when do you get it, what type of media are you trying to play, and so on.

If you want to run Factory, you have to upgrade to it via “zypper dup”.
Otherwise your system will break sooner or later.
But I guess you should not do that.
Better remove the Factory repo again and stay with standard 13.1.
But it is available on OBS even for openSUSE 13.1: http://software.opensuse.org/package/cairo-dock
Just click on “Show possibly unstable packages” and you should see quite a few providers for the latest version 3.3.2.
About Audacious… packman or the packman I ‘have’ doesn’t allow me to get those missind dependencies and they’re the codecs but I’ll take a few moments and get the exact message here:
WoW! Guess not… I used zyper to add something called ‘Packman all’.
It rather gave me the impression that ‘all’ of packman wasn’t accessable?
Now there’s no complaint about a missing codec for Audacious and it’s installing.
I have nothing special to play. In fact on this computer I don’t even have Music!
It’s for school use. Though I may have music on a USB or something at times.
I use Audacious because it’s noted as being fairly light and my music playing or media player needs are very simple… Plus I like the ‘winamp’ theme option.
Guess that problem ‘solved’ itself and thanks for the heads up… nothing can be done for Cairo-dock at the moment.

Well, so you probably only added Packman Multimedia at first?
Most of the necessary libraries are in Packman Essentials.
But if you add Packman All that’s enough of course, as this contains everything from Packman, i.e. it’s the combination of Essentials, Extra, Multimedia, and Games.

You should not need w32codec-all anyway. That was useful years ago, but is mostly obsolete since years already.
But it’s hard to give concrete answers without any exact error messages and the like…
But how did you find the package for Factory or Tumbleweed then?
I really don’t want stable and have no interest in Tumbleweed nor Factory.

“Unstable” in this case just means that it is not officially included in the distribution.
That doesn’t mean that it is likely to crash your system.
PS: regarding your mentioning of adding the Factory repo, and your confusion regarding Packman, I suppose it would be a good idea if you posted your current repo list:
