I’m wondering if someone can point me in the direction of a method for caching user information and LDAP credentials on openSuSE 11.1? I’m using eDirectory for the back-end, and would like to be able to take my laptop away from my desk and still login without a bunch of maintenance, reconfiguration, etc.
This is, by definition, what Linux User Management’s (LUM) namcd module
does. It supports an unplugged mode so once you are authenticated you
should be able to authenticate with those users repeatedly until you get
back to a network connection. I don’t know necessarily if there are LUM
RPMs for OpenSUSE but you could probably steal them from an OES server and
go from there somehow.
Good luck.
