Hello Guru’s I bask in your presence… o.k seriously I have two questions: 1. I started studying C++ again (so I can start working on some Dev projects, at least some basic pieces). I have been reading the “Sam’s Teach Yourself C++ in 24 Hours”. Not a bad book but she could go into “Classes”. Does anyone know another book that may be good for studying ? Also the new “Unity” interface with most Linux distros is kind of throwing me off, really taking me back to the books so if anyone knows of any good material I could get my hands on to study that would be great. Better still if anyone is going to OSC12 you can just bring the material. Just saying. Thanks.
I highly recommend this book Introduction to Design Patterns in C++ with Qt4
and what do you mean by the Unity interface on most Linux distros? AFAIK the only distros that have that are Ubuntu and Arch, on the other paw Gnome 3/Shell is pretty much on all of them now, is that what you mean? If so you might want to try KDE or XFCE or some other desktop environment where you’ll feel more at home.
Yeah it is GNOME 3, my bad. I may have to switch to XFCE. Man, I been working with GNOME though since… like… I started playing with Linux back in Early 2000. Oh well all things change. Thanks for the help.
