Burning a CD/DVD

I have a problem with burning a CD/DVD.
I use K3b or Brasero and an extern CD/DVD burner, but booth programms don’t recognize, that an empty CD/DVD is in there. They booth mean no medium is availible.

The burner is to the PC with USB connected.

edit: using openSuse 11.1 KDE 4.1

There is a bug related to this
DVD & Audio CD cannot play in all multimedia apps. In YaST under
your user name add yourself to the groups cdrom and disk.

Not sure but you may also need to edit the file;


/usr/share/PolicyKit/policy/org.freedesktop.hal.device-access.policy
