I installed OpenOffice 3.2 (Opensuse version from the 11.2 repositories).
First the good thing: now, the KDE4 integretions works (also with with Zotero)
I observed some graphical errors. The pannel in the bottom do not show anything, only empty boxes. I should show the scale controler and some informations. For some boxes (e.g. scale controler, language), their will be shown after clicking on the empty boxes.
An other graphical error are still the dots in the left and right corner when drawing circles in Impress or Draw.
Perhaps these errors are due to my graphic card (nvidia quadro FX 770M with driver nvidia).
Has somebody the same problems or are these problems system specific?
I deinstalled the KDE4 integration, this did’t help.
On the second computer (with an ATI graphic card) the bottom panel is OK, but the icons in the top are missing, they are shown when you hover the pointer of the empty space.
I ask because I tried doing an update in YAST2 from that repo but it doesn’t show that there are any updates for OOo, i.e. no updates for 3.1.1.4 are showing up. If I scroll own I can see some prebuilt localisation packages of 3.2 but they say they are temporary packages and should not be used.
p, li { white-space: pre-wrap; } This package includes the prebuilt localization of OpenOffice.org Calc. It is not intended for a real use. It needs to be repacked to the real architecture independent package.
This is only a temporary solution until we have an easier way to build the OpenOffice.org localizations separately.
will a full working 3.2 package be created for 11.2 or will we need to get them from factory like we do for KDE4.4.0?
A friend is using Arch Linux (intel graphics).
He tried OpenOffice (vanila version) and Go-Office.
In the original OpenOffice the graphical artefacts are not occuring (but problems with JPGs), but when in Go-Office (a pimped version of OpenOffice, which is used for the Opensuse OpenOffice variant) he has the same problems.
suse 11.2 kde 4.4
Confirm, ooo3.2 has the same problem The pannel in the bottom do not show anything, and also crash (plasma not ooo, but the crash seems to be related with ooo) often, I cannot understand why and when.
and also when I open the document it is invisible, only the frame appear and the soffice process go to 55% of processor and if I kill it it remain there like process, but if I open it from the application it’s ok.
OK, I had a little time on my hands so did a little testing. I updated my box which is running 11.2 with KDE4.3.5 to OOo3.2. I too get the empty rectangle boxes at the bottom but my slider and the page icons to the left of it do display. My language selection and “document changed” icon also display.
Clicking in some of the rectangles displays EXT/INSRT, STD/ADD/EXT, etc.
I just checked on my laptop which has 11.2 with OOo 3.1.1.4 and I see the same problem although there are no rectangles but it appears that no all the information is being displayed. One thing I noticed is that if I resize the window then the slider and the icons disappear until I click in that area. So it’s not repainting properly.
From my basic test, the problem doesn’t seem to be limited to OOo3.2 as it happens in 3.1.1.4 too. The version of KDE doesn’t seem to make any difference either. It looks like it may be a packaging or integration problem generally.
I never really noticed this until you raised the problem so I’m not sure how long it’s been like this. I wonder if it’s the same with openSUSE 11.1.
From my experience, I would risk to say that OpenOffice has no problems, it must be a KDE issue.
I have not seen a single flaw like the ones describe while running GNOME 2.28.
I know that applications like DOOM3 have problems when launched by KDE (graphics noise, etc, but only during the 30 initial seconds, there’s a KDE loading icons being rendered inside of Doom 3 aswell).

I get the same idiocy but the show stoppers for me are still the database
and import functions from calc and base. 11.1/KDE3 work just fine with the
same versions of OO as does the initial 11.2 install (KDE4.3.1) up until
the first software updates after installation - then I can no longer
connect to any databases and importing a .dbf (dBase) file into calc gives
me the column headers but no data.
This has to be a glitch in either the integration or packaging since the
problem tracks the OS/desktop but not the OO version between 11.1 and 11.2
I just tried to reinstall OO 3.1.1.4 from the repositories. The results was, that OO was not starting anymore >:(. Also the deletion of the configuration folder “.oo3” hasn’t helped.
Now, I reinstalled OO 3.2 and OpenOffice is working again, but with graphical artefacts.
Has somebody an idea how to install 3.1.1.4 again?
