Buggy wired network connection(auto break after few minuts)

Hi guys,

the problem is simple to name, but hard(for me, tried since a week) to fix.

I am using opensuse(with gnome) and a dockingstation. 2weeks ago, everything worked fine, but now it isnt.

I dock it on, internet works for ~2-5minuts. Then it stop working(connection is still shown as known and connected.) If i disable/enable now the wired connection, everything works fine(for few minuts…).

Any hint were the bug could be? I get crazy atm https://www.opensuse-forum.de/wcf/images/smilies/smilie_pc_012.gif https://www.opensuse-forum.de/wcf/images/smilies/grin.png

best regards

First, welcome to openSUSE Forums. Are you really using Leap 42.2 (not yet released)? Or did you mean 42.1?

Anyway, knowing more about your network hardware might be helpful here. Report back with the output from

/usr/sbin/hwinfo --netcard

Please enclose your output within CODE tags (refer to the’#’ button in the editor)

Assuming your wired device is eth0, then also report back with the following when working and when not

/usr/sbin/ethtool eth0

You might also watch the kernel output in a terminal window

dmesg --follow

When the connection drops, anything consistently reported at that time?

Sounds very much like duplicated IP somewhere.

Hi, thanks to all the replays. Atm it worked already for over an hour…but its just a matter of time ;D
Nah i am using 42.1, was a selection mistake

I opened a terminal with dmesg --follow, i’ll report back results when its hanging the next time.(weird that its working now…presentation effect…;))

… sometimes happens that way when deano & arvidjaar show up. Guess they scare the bejeepers out of some of those bugs.lol!
