Bug handling USB-RS232 Serial cable?

I use FTTDI USB to RS232 cables a lot and these have always worked for me. I’m on tumbleweed and in the last few weeks they’ve stopped working. Now when I plug in the USB cable the expected behaviour happens, /dev/ttyUSB0 is created but it’s instantly disconnected. I know that the cable is working as I simply dug out a netbook and used that for monitoring serial. I know it was working on Tumbleweed a few weeks ago but not sure exactly when the change was made that caused it. The output I’m getting from journalctl will follow but if there’s anything more I can do to sort out this problem let me know.

Hi John,

I’ve the same problem and opened a bug in bugzilla:
https://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1007652

Please feel free to provide the information Oliver is asking for, as I’m traveling this week and don’t have access to the FTDI.

See you,
Matthias
