Brother MFC 665CW

I am having problems installing my Brother MFC 665CW Printer on my OpenSUSE 11.1 OS. I followed a link that was kindly provided for me at this site The Linux Foundation.

I checked the site and it did say there was a driver for my printer, Great!! Now just how the heck do I capitalize on this?

OpenPrinting database - Printer: Brother MFC-665CW

I said the following:

“Brother MFC-665CW
Color printer, works Perfectly
Recommended driver: mfc665cwlpr-1.0.0-6
Generic instructions for: CUPS, LPD, LPRng, PPR, PDQ, no spooler”

Okay, what next? And sorry to sound so dense folks… :shame:

Hi, check this link and accept the agreement and download the rpm.
After right click on .rpm and Open with “Install Software”.
Give it a try

Link of the website:

BSC: Brother CUPS driver and CUPS Wrapper driver download

Link of the driver direct download:

Licence Agreement

Well, I did that and here’s what happened.

Subprocess failed RPM failed: error Failed dependancies

mfc665CWipr is needed by mfc665CWupswrapper-1.0.1-1 i386

From the same website you can find this page:

BSC: Adding the Printer to the CUPS Printing System

it explains the entire procedure. :\

PS:

the LPR driver rpm needed is here:
