Brother-DCP-750CW scanner failed to open device

Hello,

Some days ago I posted a request about that but I got no answers.
I am not yet completely desperate though…!
Up to now I could manage to install my new Brother DCP-750CW as a network printer. Now I want to start the scanner function but it is not so easy.
Context: network in DHCP mode
OpenSuse 11.0
Printer working with CUP
Sane and Xsane installed

Complying with Brother’s Solutions Center:
su
passwd:
rpm -ivh brscan2-0.2.4-0.i386.rpm
brsaneconfig2 -a name=MyScan model=DCP-750CW ip=192.168.30.10
or
brsaneconfig2 -a name=MyScan model=DCP-750CW nodename=BRN_C36ACF
(test made with both possibility)
Installation without problem

The problem: when I launch xsane I get the following message:
failed to open device ‘brother2:net1;dev0’ invalid argument
or
failed to open device ‘net:localhost:brother2:net1;dev0’ invalid argument
depending of which device I select among 2 proposals.

The detection of scanner device with Yast seems OK.
When I ping the IP adress of the scanner 192.168.30.10 it is OK.

I need help. thank you.

have you had a look at the SANE site to see if your printer is supported there?

SANE - Scanner Access Now Easy

When one looks at the Brother listings, none seem to be supported: SANE: Supported Devices

Try the CLI utility ‘sane-find-scanner’ with the device connected. If using KDE, try launching Kooka (scanning app). If the Brother scanner package has installed correctly, then it should be detected. In the past I’ve had no issues with Brother network connected multifunction printer/scanners.

I have.It is supported. Now every thing is OK. In fact I made a full reinstallation of the system. After that I followed exactly the instruction of Brother
Sane and xsane install
brscanconfig2 install
Friendly name assignation using ip address instead of node name !?
Worked immediately.
Thanks you to everybody.
