Broken software for Canon Printer (Scanner)!

How do I fix broken software files. see attached image.

You can’t share an image like that (it needs to be uploaded to an online server). Instead, I recommend using https://susepaste.org/

Make sure to select ‘Image’ at top right-hand side of page. When it uploads the image and generates the URL, it will be missing the file suffix. I usually just right-click on the image itself and select ‘Copy Image Location’ or ‘Copy Link Location’ and post that here.

Good information, I did not know that OpenSuse had a paste site. Below is the link to site

Looks like the package is not signed. Up to you to trust it or not.

There are couple of things that bother me on this scanner code, on the first link it is referencing ScanGear2.3-40 rpm on both, but the ScanGear2.3.50 is the only rpm on Canon’s site. It looks like I should be able to use the 3-50 since it is a more recent rpm driver, but it was installed as Admin successfully, but it will not scan from either applications in Leap 15 and under YAST the Scanner has no available drivers to install under Canon Printers: TR8520 AIO. This is starting to tick me off, I spend good money for a supposedly good printer and it never works as it should under Linux because the printer Manufacturer don’t support Linux. They cooperate with Microsoft’s buggie software, but they don’t want to fix drivers for Linux so their printer operate like they are suppose to under Microsoft’s stupid software. I am not a happy camper and this is just another paperweight that I should have never bought. Here I am, I barely make enough money to barely pay for a roof over my wife’s head and mine, and I am spending money for a printer that only does 1 job of 3 functions. I might as well just got a straight printer and make it to town when I need to have something scanned. This is pathetic…

As I explained to you already in this thread…

Also, the ScanGear MP package comes withi it’s own graphical scanner utility (of the same name) for scanning - it does not use the usual SANE front-ends. Did you try using that application for scanning?

The YaST scanner utility is not needed when using the Canon scanner driver and associated scanning application.

Canon’s general lack of support for Linux is well known, and most experienced users no to avoid this brand, (or to at least carefully research which models are supported before buying).

What model of Canon Multifunction Printer is ?
Calmly and see that it works:)

If you download the drivers http://pdisp01.c-wss.com/gdl/WWUFORedirectTarget.do?id=MDEwMDAwOTExMjAx&cmp=ABR&lang=EN from the site, open, and in packages install the 64 or 32 bit software, then with this software installed you have a special tool that starts from the terminal with the scangearmp2 command, you can also create a launcher and you’re good to go, I have two Canon multifunctionals that both work

This is what comes back from the bash run.

I will download and see what happens. Thanks.

Sir, you have made me a HAPPY MAN ! THIS WORKED, FAX AND SCANNER BOTH WORK AS THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO. My Graditude for your help in resolving my issue with Canon Printer.

Very well:)
