broken repository list

A while ago I tried to add an url to the online repositories list that turned out not to be a proper yast repository. Although I did cancel the process, at every update the faulty url somehow rears its head again (and for obvious reasons fails to load a package list). However, zypper doesn’t actually list this url among its repositories, so I suppose I’ll have to manually remove it. Where exactly does YaST (oS 11.4) store this information?

Hi,

open Yast, goto repositories.

There you can delete it.

That’s the thing, neither yast nor zypper list it as present. Yet when I do an update, it tries to query the ghost URL anyway. So I’ll have to manually remove it from somewhere.

/etc/zypp/repos.d/
/var/cache/zypp/packages/

Thanks  You pointed me in the right direction, turned out to be: /etc/zypp/services.d/service.service

Not quite sure what the distinction between a ‘repo’ and a ‘service’ is though, nor why the latter won’t show up in the software repositories list (where it was created in the first place). Puzzled penguin indeed.

It shows in the service list.

Service Management:
services, ls List all defined services.
addservice, as Add a new service.
modifyservice, ms Modify specified service.
removeservice, rs Remove specified service.
refresh-services, refs Refresh all services.

What it is exactly is in the zypper man page. I think.

Services
Services are one level above repositories and serve to manage
repositories or to do some special tasks. Libzypp currently
supports only one type of services, the Repository Index Ser-
vice (RIS).

Repository Index Service (RIS) is a special type of repository
which contains a list of other repositories. This list can be
generated dynamically by the server according to some URI
parameters or user name, or can be static. Once such service
is added to your system, zypper takes care of adding, modify-
ing, or removing these repositories on your system to reflect
the current list. See section Service Management and
http://old-en.opensuse.org/Standards/Repository_Index_Service
for more details.
