I did a zypper dup and now I can’t get gnome-shell to start up.
What logfile should I attach?

We know what you did, the log will not really help.
Tell us more… like what were you running, what repos did you switch to, what graphics device you have etc…what exactly is happening…
I believe that the problem is that I was running gnome fallback before and now it crashes. I am running the llvmpipe software rasterizer.
Gnome fallback no longer exists.
Hmm, I thought they had fixed that bug, whereby if you were previously running fallback, it crashes. Apparently not.
If you delete all gnome settings (mostly in directories beginning “.g”, and start over, it will probably work.
I deleted all directories that began with “.g”, and I have the same issue. Could you link to the thread, thanks in advance.
It was Bug 817612, and I think some other bug reports linked from there.
GNOME3 doesn’t use any directory beginning with “.g” for its config, but the xdg standards ~/.config/ and ~/.local/ AFAIK.
