so i read the thread and tried everything they wrote about, pinging numeric hosts and gives an error:
Connect error: Network is unreachable
which is strange because my network desktop gadget shows some activity, and browsers show that they can’t resolve the hostname
i also tried deleting /etc/resolv.conf and rebooting and still nothing
That occasionally happens here. When it happens, I reboot the router.

You could start by trying to ping the router, by IP address. If that
fails, try restarting the router. If that fails, then please post here
the output of “ifconfig” in a terminal (su first).
If you can ping the router, but not outside addresses, post the output
of “route”.
