Brodcom 4312 firmware installation problem.

Hello.

I am having an issue getting the broadcom firmware to install correctly under 11.2. Had the same problem in ubuntu as well, but was able to install the firmware on that machine, but not on the 11.2 machine. I figure I am just doing something stupid. I have already reviewed the stickies, and just can't seem to figure it out. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!:)

If you are running the standard kernel, your problem in installing the firmware
is NOT an issue. The kernel driver b43 does NOT work with that driver until
kernel 2.6.32.

Please revies the postings about BCM4312 or PCI ID 14e4:4315. I’m tired of
rewriting the fixe3s and will NEVER do it again. Please search the forums!!!

lwfinger, thank you for the info. However, with respect. Chill! As my post did mention, I did actually take a look around, and I figured I was missing a basic piece of information. This is the first time using opensuse, coming from ubuntu. And my other ubuntu machine did let me install the firmware, and it is not running kernel 2.6.32; like I mentioned in the post. If this is the type of community support I can expect, then it doesn’t matter if opensuse is more polished, and might prove a better distro for my needs. If those in the know are going to behave as monarchs of power over noobs, then I will probably be going somewhere else. Like I said thank you for the information, though. It did provide inform me what I was missing.
