Broadcom-wl installed daily but same version

In diagnosing and trying to understand my wifi (ethernet used as primary) network, I have noticed that broadcom-wl gets updated virtually daily by “sudo zypper update”. In looking at history the installs all have the same version number. For example, it was updated for the last 3 days with version 6.30.223.271.

Are these really different updates or has, perhaps, some daily git upload become linked into zypper update?
Hardly a major issue but I would like to know whether these daily updates are indeed unique or do I have some peculiarity in my system.

thanks for any insights, tom kosvic

@tckosvic wrong place to ask, it’s a third party package from Packman, you would need to ask on their Mailing List. https://lists.links2linux.de/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/packman

I will post question there. Joining the packman forum need an approval that will take some time.
I will post answer here if I get one in case anyone else is curious.

I see that the full current version is 6.30.223.271-1699.24.pm.5 so there were at least 5 rebuilds (see .pm.5) of the same version.
I cannot tell if that is what you witnessed though.

This is the last Version from Broadcom.
It is from 2015.

  • update to 6.30.223.271

I have added the Patch for kernel 6.14 a few days ago and submitted it to Manfred Holstein to get build in Packman.
So maybe that is the Problem?

Or is your Problem to get installed broadcom-wl without having such Hardware?

I do not know how to get build info on a package. Yast software history just gives 6.30.223.271. Where does the build info come from?

I have wifi hardware and software installed and enabled and running. Not sure what your reference is to.

I was just curious why there are nearly daily updates of this package that get installed.

With

such hardware

I mean Wlan hardware, that needs brodcom -wl.

The Info about the Version is from the changelog File of broadcom-wl.

FYI, “broadcom-wl-6.30.223.271-150600.24.pm.6.x86_64” was updated again today, 2/15/2025 @ 0900.

This looks like a different rebuild from 6.30.223.271-1699.24.pm.5 that @OrsoBruno posted above.

I think some kind of rebuilding is going on for broadcom-wl.

I have not yet received info that I have been accepted at Packman forum to be able to post this question.

Again, hardly an urgent issue. thanks, tom kosvic

Don’t get confused. OrsoBruno posted the file name from the Tumbleweed repository.

That’s a normal procedure.

If a new kernel is build or the tools for building have changed and something more.

Last build was from

buildwk1 finished “build pesign-repackage.spec” at Fri Feb 14 15:22:38 UTC 2025.

Please do not use suchthings.
Better use Code-Tags or if the output is too much use susepaste.

PS
Does not work…
