So I am hooked up with wifi working again and I just deleted the rogue kernel entries from the grub menu via the SUSE boot manager module (GUI).
Now, I am trying to update with the update applet in the system tray. Similar to before, updates are shown, but it is frozen at 0% with no action at all.
Why is SUSE so borked…??? I have done nothing strange to bork the system.

Use zypper from the terminal. Become su - and do
zypper up
