I started this thread because I have an annoying issue on my HP Presario CQ54 with ATI graphic card. Before explain my problem, I must inform you that I use opensuse 12.3 with KDE and I have installed ATI proprietary drivers. As long as I am in a session, everything is ok. The brightness control buttons work well and the system can keep my custom settings of screen brightness. The problem is during the boot and before a KDE session starts. For a little while, until a successful login, the screen brightness is at the minimum level and I am unable to find a permanent setting for this. I am wondering if there is a fix for this issue or a trick to change the brightness at the maximum level until login.
