Brightness cannot be adjusted after suspend on Tumbleweed

Hi,

I am running the latest version of Tumbleweed on an ASUS Laptop X515DAP_M515DA with Gnome. The screen brightness is correctly remembered during reboot but when waking up from suspend the brightness defaults to about 90% brightness. After suspend the brightness can be set to 100% but it will not go lower than 90% using either the keyboard or slider to change the brightness.

How can this be fixed?

Thanks! Hopefully this will then be fixed soon.

In the meantime you can use the last working TW kernel (6.11.8) or 6.13-rc5 from https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Kernel:/HEAD/standard/, which works fine for me so far.

Thanks. The 6.13-rc5 kernel works solves this issue for me.

I am running into issues with the 6.13 Kernel in that it updates fail. I need to uninstall it, reboot using 6.12 kernel and then the updates work.

Do we know when this fix for the brightness after suspend will be available in the default kernel?

Also, where can I download the 6.11.8 kernel?

The fix will be in kernel 6.12.8, which is on its way to TW: Request 1234560: Submit kernel-source - openSUSE Build Service. Kernel 6.11.8 can be downloaded from former snapshots, e.g., https://download.opensuse.org/history/20241220/tumbleweed/repo/oss/.

By the way, kernel 6.12.8 can be downloaded from Kernel:stable: https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Kernel:/stable/standard/
