bridging eth an wlan

I have a HDHomeRun unit which is a network based TV tuner. So the problem I have is I am renting an apartment for a short while, an the only working TV cable jack is in the living room while all my computers are in the back room (along with a Myth Server). I know what I want to do, but I am seem to be miss understanding how to do it.

I have a Netbook with OpenSuSE 11.4 with a working ethernet an wifi port. I would like to hook my eth up directly to the HDHR (may need a cross over cable), an configure the wifi for my local wifi network.

I have so far tried creating a bridge which has failed as the wifi does not get configured to connect to the wifi, and I have tried a bond which failed as well.

My other solution (which I prefer) is to make use of the PS3. It has a eth an wlan port as well. But both devices make use the same MAC. I assume it has 1 network device with 2 different media types which is why it can not make use of both at the same time. It is currently running SuSE 11.1 for ppc.

I know I could go by a Access Point which can act as a repeater for $100 (netgear), but I figure this is a chance to learn something new before just buying something.

Any Ideas would be greatly appreciated.
