hello all
im trying to burn an audio cd with brasero,
when i select the audio files to add to the project i get an error message saying :“Track 1.wav” could not be opened." and :“Track 1.wav” is not suitable for audio or video media."
i also tried the “copy cd” option, the program recognizes the audio cd in my drive but when i press the copy button the window disappears and nothing happen.
i had a similar problem lately see thread - cant burn dvd,but this time i want to try and use brasero instead of k3b.
any ideas ?
I’m not sure .wav is supported, isn’t it a microsoft format
i cant believe that wav is not supported, its the most common audio format there is,every audio production software exports its projects in wav as default !
if i can play it,i should be able to burn it,right?
anyway what about the “copy cd” otion not responding and just does nothing ?
i seriously suspect that brasero is just a faulty program,it just doesnt work well,or as expected from a burning utility.
I can’t really comment on Brasero, I never use it, even in Gnome I use k3b
I agree it should work, but if it doesn’t I wouldn’t waste good CD’s on it. Try a bug report if necessary.
I do have a gnome installation which I could try for you, but I don’t have any .wav files.
How are you adding the files to the burn project? Is it an Audio CD project?
If I could get hold of some files, I would try them for you, or just one file and I’ll rename it a number of times to make a cluster.
I’ll PM my email to you
hello again caf4926
sorry for the late reply, was out for the weekend…
ive been looking for a solution from other resources as well and didnt found one.
as for your reply,im trying to copy an original audio cd and yes i was trying to use the audio project option, the strange thing, apart from the fact brasero reported wav is not supported, when i got to the screen where i need to add audio tracks to the project the lower file type selection slide menu opted for image files only ! WTF???
i wont waste your time and mine ill just go ahead and uninstall brasero and install k3b.
thanx again.
Uninstalling brasero might be tricky, I would just leave it.
Trying to copy a audio CD?
Sorry if I’m slightly confused? But usually I rip any CD I have, then use the ripped files to create a any new audio cd projects.
well…eventually…
i followed your "lead " about ripping cds,i just copied the tracks to a folder on my system and brasero worked!
a little disappointing that it cant make a cd copy without having to go through all this but it works.
thanx again,you solved my problem.
Good to know.
CD’s are copy protected, so just making a direct copy doesn’t work I guess.
If you want the best audio quality, rip your tracks to .flac (they will be big files)
You can use those directly or convert those again to suit your requirements.
This is for openSUSE 11.4
Had problems burning an audio CD from MP3 files with Brasero complaining that the MP3 files “were not suitable for audio”!! My system played MP3 files normally with Totem and Banshee, which both use GStreamer, so I thought something was wrong with Brasero and I tried uninstalling and reinstalling it, to no avail.
At some point, I thought of first converting the MP3s to WAV files and then add them to the Brasero Audio CD project, which did the trick!
So, it turned out that GStreamer wasn’t setup correctly to on-the-fly convert MP3 files to PCM / WAV, which is needed to burn audio CDs. I ended up removing and installing again the whole GStreamer architecture from the Packman Repository only to get the same result! Looking at the GStreamer packages once more (command: zypper se -d gstreamer) I spotted package gstreamer-0_10-plugins-ugly-orig-addon. That was it! Once I installed it, I was able to add MP3 files to Brasero!
For completeness, here’s the list of GStreamer packages I have on my system:
