hi,
On a well running openSUSE 11 KDE i have changed the some of the appaerence setting. Since then i can start the system in failsafe mode, but at the normal boot, i have only a text interface. Who do i change it back to have the normal (GUI?). i am new to LINUX, please help.

Run the ‘runlevel’ command to see at which runlevel you have currently
found yourself. If it says something like ‘N 3’ after a bootup you are
at runlevel three (vs. five which is when the GUI is loaded). If it
says ‘N 5’ when you are already where you should be and something else
is wrong preventing the GUI from coming up. If the former become ‘root’
and type init 5
to see if that gets you where you want to be. If so
post back and instructions to make runlevel five the default are trivial
(you can probably find them online in about one hundred articles via
Google, in fact, since it just involves changing one digit in
/etc/inittab from a ‘3’ to a ‘5’.
Good luck.
