I installed Vista HP on my SATA drive, then I installed openSUSE to my primary master IDE drive. About a week ago I installed Ubuntu to a second IDE drive as primary slave. After the install I did not see a menu option in GRUB for Ubuntu! In fact, when I boot into Suse I don’t even see the drive but the drive is recognized in BIOS, I installed Ubuntu to drive SDC since that was the proper drive. I know that Linux reads drives in order of precedence according to the BIOS so what entry do I place into my GRUB menu.lst to boot to Ubuntu? Can I even edit it correctly to boot into Ubuntu since I found out from their website that it uses the Ext4 file system as it’s default? :\
Afaik this isn’t possible without patching grub due to ext4.
You would have to use Ubuntu’s grub, to boot the others.
Another solution would be for the primary GRUB to chain to a secondary GRUB from Ubuntu in the partition boot sector.
