Booting from Leap 42.2 install DVD Iso question

Not able to generate a Grub2 menu entry following the guide in the
following thread:
https://forums.opensuse.org/showthread.php/484223-How-to-boot-a-openSUSE-DVD-from-hard-disk-with-Grub2

Below is my mounted partitions:
:~ # df -t ext4
Filesystem
/dev/sda9 /
/dev/mapper/cr_ata-ST1000LM024_xxxxxxx-part14 /home
/dev/sda19 /home/iso
:~ #

I tried a few variations with isofile location but unable to generate a
menu entry by editing /etc/grub.d/40_custom.

this is my last try:
>>
menuentry “openSUSE Leap 42.2 DVD” {
set isofile=/home/iso/openSUSE-Leap-42.2-DVD-x86_64.iso
set root=(hd0,19)
loopback loop $isofile
linux (loop)/boot/x86_64/loader/linux install=hd:$isofile
initrd (loop)/boot/x86_64/loader/initrd
}
<<

What do need to do (modify) to generate a menu entry in Grub 2?

Cheers

Solved this on my own. :slight_smile:

I assumed (incorrectly) that os-prober should/would generate the entry
in the console for one to see but it does not. The menu entry appears at
bottom of grub list at boot up and either works or throws up an error
message. Thus the following works:

menuentry “openSUSE Leap 42.2 DVD” {
set isofile=/openSUSE-Leap-42.2-DVD-x86_64.iso
set root=(hd0,19)
loopback loop $isofile
linux (loop)/boot/x86_64/loader/linux install=hd:$isofile
initrd (loop)/boot/x86_64/loader/initrd
}

Cheers.
