bootable disk

Brand new PC (self-built). One new HDD (SATA); one old HDD (IDE) with the old OS and my data.

During the install (opensuse 11.1), I modified the partition set-up. Wanted more space for the OS, and didn’t want SuSE using the old drive for swap.

Now, it will only boot from the old drive, although it goes right away to the grub on the first drive and loads 11.1 nicely. However, it won’t boot from the first drive. I guess the first drive is not bootable.

Is there a way to make the first drive bootable without repartitioning?

Thanks in advance.

From gparted you can set the bootable flag for the partition you which to make bootable by clicking the partition in the list, right clicking it and selecting “set flags” from the menu.
