Boot straight to desktop without login prompt?

my laptop boots to a black screen, which is usually followed by the login prompt

Occasionally, but too often to not be worrying (maybe 50% of the time), the black screen is instead interrupted by dialogs asking me for my wallet password. whether i fill this in or just hit cancel it then loads straight to desktop

The fact my laptop is a bit older (but not underpowered for day to day tasks) and the occasional nature of the issue looks like some kind of race condition.

Is anyone else getting this?

a lot of this is supposition of course; the wallet prompts might be a result of the login block already failing, but the fact that the desktop doesn’t show until it’s dismissed makes me think it’s something to do with that

I guess you are using openSUSE with KDE as desktop but it would be nice to know more details like:

  • Which version of openSUSE?
  • Which version of KDE (plasma, frameworks, Qt)?

His openSUSE version is LEAP 42.2 as the prefix of the Title says.
