boot-splash does not work - how to start

hello dear

good day - i have opensuse 12.1 installed - on a samsung notebook

all worked nice and smoothly - but now i cannot see the boot-splash. - that means that icannot start programmes and all that sort of things.

so what can i do.

btw. i have tried the both things…

cat /proc/cmdline

i do not know how to start this… - how can i start this???

and afterwards i also i have tried to add a new controllpanel - without any success…

  1. You say that openSUSE did startup and load properly. Was that a KDE or GNOME desktop using 32 or 64 bit?

  2. What did you do just before it stopped working? Software Update or what?

  3. Does the Grub Boot loader startup and allow you to select anything?

  4. Executing the terminal command** cat /proc/cmdline** shows the command line used to load and start your selected kernel. Did you run this at the terminal prompt?

  5. When openSUSE does not load now, what do you get? Blank screen, terminal prompt or what?

  6. When you speak of the Control Panel, to what do you refer to? Windows has a “Control Panel”, but openSUSE does not have anything with that exact naming.

Thank You,

that means that icannot start programmes and all that sort of things.

Really??

How is it related?

Or are your graphics completely ‘Jeffed’

As I understand the OP, he does not mean “the boot splash”, but something in his desktop. Else I can not understand the rest of his post.

Please dilbertone, explain more exactly what happens when you boot. Step by step and stop where you do not see that “bootsplash” you mention.
