Boot scripts not working and are not showing. It crashes before I can do anything.
Sorry but this is complete unclear to me. Were it only because “boot scripts” point to something that happens during boot and KDE, being a user desktop interface runs only after boot has finished.
So better explain which scripts you mean, when you expect them to be run and why you think so.
my computer just crashes. I don’t really know, that’s why I’m asking.
Then better explain step by step what happens. I hope you do not assume that anybody can help with thus a scanty description. Just saying “it does not work” is no problem description.
My computer will not boot openSUSE, it just turns black.
“Boot scripts not working…” is not descriptive of the issue as you have titled this topic.
From the limited description you have provided, the Plasma desktop session does not start successfully, leaving you with a black screen. Is that correct?
- Do you get a working login (displaymanager) screen?
- Are you trying to start a Plasma X11 session, or a Plasma Wayland session?
It is not even known if he got a Grub screen. He refuses to make any description of what he sees and does.
i do have a grub screen
Did you try to remove the “splash=silent” and “quiet” parameters from the kernel command line or did you hit “Esc” to see verbose booting messages?
yes i did
Please answer the questions from my last reply to you.
Plasma X11 session
And do you also get a working login screen?
not really. It just stops now when It gets to the scripts
What scripts are you referring to? Do you mean during the boot sequence as various services are being started, and the graphical Xorg server fails to start?
yes that one.
Was it ever working? Did you ever get to the login screen? Did it fail after an upgrade?
yes I did. I’m not sure what upgrade but after that no login screen, nothing. However I have not been on in a while.
^^ You’ve marked your preceding post as a solution. So, no further help required now?
yes its fine
