Boot process stops

Hi,
I’m using opensuse12.2 and I have not installed new packages nor modified system resources for last week but now the system (or KDE) can’t boot. Maybe this is not meaningful but last I have started Kmail (first time) and installed gmail-plasmoid widget. Booting process stops at “Started LSB: SuSEfirewall2 phase 2” and I don’t see any fails. At runlevel 3 all works fine.

Did you update your system?
Your videocard ?

No update.

I have NVidia GeForce 8400 GS. In recovery mode (with non-nvidia driver) all works fine. In normal mode NVidia driver is used since linux installation.

Please boot in failsafe mode and post output of the following commands, between CODE tags ( the # in the editor

zypper lr -d
uname -a
rpm -qa | grep nvidia
grep NO_KMS_IN_INITRD /etc/sysconfig/kernel

Problem is gone.
“rpm -qa | grep nvidia” outputs nothing so I tried reinstallation of nvidia driver (at starting point I got information that 310.19 is installed). But above rpm command still outputs nothing with nvidia.

Try with “grep -i …”

You should at least see something like this. (the 32bit packages don’t have to be there).

It seems that nvidia driver is not listed

How did you install the driver? When using bumblebee you should be using the NVIDIA drivers for bumblebee too.

Just curious, where have you got it from? Is there any maintained DKMS repo for openSUSE?

Driver downloaded from official website and installed

sh ./NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-310.19.run
