After my latest supper dup and after having removed old kernel versions, my system will not start anymore and hang at USB_ModeSwitch_1-3. I cannot further debug it and do not really see what is wrong. Can you help me investigate this issue? Screenshot here https://www.dropbox.com/s/qwb4ehutf0e5daw/2018-06-10%2010.12.52.jpg?dl=0
What do you mean by “removed old kernel versions”? Default Tumbleweed only keeps the last working kernel and cleans up older ones itself.
The simple solution is to download the latest NET installation image and use it to perform an upgrade.
P.S. This site has its own upload area for screenshots, etc. Not everyone wants to, or can, download from random untrusted filesharing sites.
I have been able to boot by appending 5 to the boot parameters. I do not know what this means (I guess it is related to init 5 ?) and I do not know why that parameter is suddenly required
It’s not USB_ModeSwitch that is causing troubles (as it loads correctly) but rather Switch Root
OpenSUSE has never properly cleaned my previous kernel versions. It does it most cases, but I still collect some old versions over time. Maybe it’s linked to the way I update ( zypper dup). Here the latest:
