you didn’t say which desktop environment you’re using, or which version of
openSUSE and said DE. in all DE’s you can find “YAST Control Center” under
system or configuration options. otherwise you can start YAST from a root
terminal, with the command “/sbin/yast2”. (don’t start YAST without either
giving your root password when opening, or using a root terminal; YAST run
as normal user doesn’t have systemwide management options.)

once (the full) YAST application opens, start the entry that says “Boot
Loader”. normally it reads your present boot loader configuration. in your
case that’s not possible. somewhere you’ll find the option to propose a
new boot loader configuration, which you should choose.

it’s advisable to read up on the boot process, and grub in particular.
otherwise you won’t know what you are doing, which is not a good thing
with something as essential as the boot process. here’s a few links that
may help:

If older than 11.3, run recovery. 11.3, use a backup or reinstall all.

Failing that… . You can try reinstalling rpms for kernel and grub, plus
yast boot setup. No guarantees. Or install linux on another partition or
computer, copy back all files, modify what is needed. All that for
experts. No, I’m not going to write a step by step guide.

Reinstall all and learn >:-)

Sorry.
