on my sony vaio with opensuse 12.2 and windows7 installed, after an upgrade to KDE 4.9.4 I have a boot failure,
when I start only the "GRUB " word appear on the top left of the screen,
I can boot by an USB pen with systemrescuecd 2.8.1 by systemrescuecd>boot an existing linux OS installed on the disk>boot a 32 or 64 bit linux OS installed on the disk. after this I can login graphically in my opensuse 12.2, (that seem to works properly at first glance only sound fail, but before was working), three times I went to yast>bootloader the check on extended partition and root partition was checked then pressed ok and the system seems to install bootloader again, but at the boot the "GRUB " word is the only thing I have on the screen.
how can I have my 12.2 boot properly???
thank you very much
ciao, pier:-)
Grub boots, but does not find its grub menu. I suggest you read this article on reinstalling Grub.
Re-install Grub2 from DVD Rescue: https://forums.opensuse.org/content/128-re-install-grub2-dvd-rescue.html
Thank You,
