When I turn on my computer I get the three options (boot windows, boot SUSE, two methods). In addition there is this awful animation. It reminds me of cockroaches crawling around on my monitor. (Little penguin images.) How do I get rid of that?
edit in
/boot/message
file, it should say
penguins -1
change that to 0 and it should go away.
See here . . .
It only happens around Christmas
Well that sequence of commands did not work either. Everything went fine until I did the recompress. lots of the files were left out of the new message. Were they supposed to disappear into the new message file?
Are you sure you used the following syntax?
ls . | cpio -o > message
That should capture all the decompressed files and recompress them.
Or did you try this shortcut method, without decompressing?
gfxboot --change-config penguin=0
I tried
gfxboot --change-config penguin=0
and it worked for me!
Cockroaches? Wow… harsh.
I actually think it’s neat…
