Boinc says "waiting for swap space"

I have 2 nvidia RTX 5050 cards and they crunch boinc. One card sits idle saying “waiting for swap space”. My swap is 32 gig, no programs are currently using any swap at all. i turned off hibernate and sleep. i have 32 Gig of DRAM and my motherboard is an ASUS ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO with an i9-13900KF I also see this on an i9-9900
Can anyone point me to a solution?

Thank you, i was not aware of that

I am having same boinc message for Einstein project tasks, i.e., “waiting for swap space”. One Einstein task is running and two Einstein tasks are “waiting for swap space”. Could someone outline the solution that is presented in the ref supplied by @hui.

I don’t know how to give more memory to one task. I have 32 gig of memory with only about 10% used. There is zero swap used.

thanks, tom kosvic

The quickest solution is to boot back to a snapshot that is either Tumbleweed 20260709 or older and then lock boinc-client - 8.2.13-1.2 or older for updates.

It is not related to an update so locking is not useful. It is a quite standard message. Nearly all BOINC projects are affected. It seems like a question of settings…

I had this message as well. The solution I found was to open the Boinc graphical client, then click on Options and Computing preferences → click on the Disk tab and change the bottom option ‘Page/swap’. For me, changing this from 0.00 to 50.00, and ‘Save’ of course, got everything back to normal with tasks starting again.
