Hi
Do you have a bluetooth icon showing in the top panel?
The command you ran is to discover a device, to see if your adaptor is
present it would be;
hcitool dev
Devices:
hci0 <bdaddr>
Can you check if it’s blocked, run the following as root user;
zypper in rfkill
rfkill list
and post the output.

Hi Malcolm. Thanks for your quick reply.
Yes. I do have the BT icon on the top panel and it says it’s ON but NOT visible and I can’t access it.
hcitool dev command shows nothing
and rfkill shows:

Hi
Since you have two devices, I wonder if there is a conflict of some
sort…
So having visibility off is normal. What about if you look at the
bluetooth settings?
Also I’m guessing you have a Fn key, plus a key to enable/disable
wireless and bluetooth, try pressing the key combination then run
rfkill list and see if the status changes…

Bluetooth Settings shows disabled and there is no way to enable it. In fact, if I disable the wireless (Fn+F2) and if I try to enable the BT in the control settings window, the wireless shows up again.
Strange, isn’t it?

Hi
OK, lets try disabling one…

If that doesn’t help, try;

Hi
OK, lets see if the modules are loaded…
lsmod |grep bt
Can you also check your system BIOS, just to ensure the device is
enabled.

Ok. But still the same.
Just as a comment I even blacklisted acer_wmi and asus_wmi wth the same results. I’m starting to think this is a kernel problem.
hciconfig hci0 up returns a time out BTW and hcitool dev returns nothing. All thiis with the wireless completely off (soft and hard)
TIA

Hi
It does indeed, maybe try a later kernel (make sure you un-blacklist
those wmi modules). I would use jdmcdaniel3’s script to build the
latest version…

Yeap. Thanks a lot Malccolm, I’ll try it.
As a final comment, In these forums (russian language) I’ve read a thread with a laptop similar to mine and with the same BT issue. I tried to translate it with google and the only thing I could understand is about kernel patch. But it seems to be sort of “solved”. It would be grat if some russian guy could translate for us
Thanks again for everything and Kind Regards
