Bluetooth driver

Hi!

am very enthusiastic about my Laptop with OpenSuse 11.0, but have a little problem…

Can anyone tell me if there is a bluetooth driver for the acer travelmate 2490 laptop for OpenSuse 11.0? Where might I find one?

My bluetooth lamp does not light up on booting and I can find no way to activate it. I suspect I need a driver.

Greetings to all!

most laptops use a function key and usually F5 to start it

Fn+F5 (or any other function key) does not seem to have the desired effect. I should also say that the bluetooth leds are right and left of a slide switch on the front side of the laptop housing. The slide switch has no effect, so I am also wondering if bluetooth is actually wired up. Acer’s handbook is ambiguous in that, while it states that some travelmate models do not have bluetooth, it does not say which. Mine has the bluetooth switch and leds, so I assume that the function is available. (Acer support has been asked in parallel).

I finally have the confirmation from Acer that Bluetooth is not installed in my serial number of the Travelmate 2490. This was not clear from the handbook which states that only selected models were equipped with Bluetooth, and my model looks, from the housing as though it belongs to the Bluetooth privileged few. Also, the support reply from Acer even suggested that it was not a question of the ‘model’(i.e. TM2490) but the serial number.

Facit: make sure you bore mercilessly when you buy from Acer to make sure that your product is equipped just as you think it is.>:(

That sucks for you.

True, you need to be very careful. But it’s not always easy to spot the deceptive statements.

Hi
I had to buy the bluetooth module as an extra for my Toshiba, maybe you
can too?

But OpenSuse 11.0 is wonderful! I bought a USB Bluetooth dongle from HAMA (compatibility: Win2K/XP/Vista, according to cover and CD) which worked first time together with my Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000. Who needs anything else. Perfect.

Hi
True, but not many where around 3 years ago when I brought the
notebook  Besides I want access to the USB ports for other items…

That being said, I did buy one (iogear) for my via artigo system to play
with and it just works
