Block specific mirror or region before migration to v16

Woohoo you’re the best ty

I feel I should mark the thread as solved, though the original question wasn’t technically answered. I guess the answer to how to block specific mirrors is “you can’t, but post here and someone will fix the mirror”?

Well, tonight was the first snapshot where I could be sure I was getting things cache cold, and getting them from you and not from NZ… I’m back to 64k/s :frowning:

Cache hot, it’s fine, so I don’t expect this to effect others too dramatically since I’m caching much of it.

It would be really nice to somehow override this behaviour in case it’s not working out right. Is there a libzypp environment var incantation that could force a different region’s mirror, or something like that?

@pallaswept There is “?AVOID_COUNTRY=au,nz” should work…

Thanks! ?COUNTRY=jp and ?REGION=jp were not working and nor were zypp.conf’s download.use_geoip_mirror or download.min_download_speed, but it sure seems like ?AVOID_COUNTRY=au is working. I’ll wait for the next snapshot and stay up til 1am again to be first to cache it before I celebrate :laughing:

Would be cool to get this resolved but a workaround will do for the time being :slight_smile: Thank you!

I had seen those posts, but I don’t think that would’ve solved my issue, where the migration tool was adding new repos and then immediately trying to install from them. I needed a way to ensure that au would be avoided automatically for new repos, is there a way to do that?

@ebat For migration, should be able to add the mirror(s) into the hosts file pointing at 127.0.0.1 and it won’t find any files so should skip to the next.
