Bloatware!

I was opening a plain text file (.txt) at work to test a printer connection. Visual Studio was the default application. To make it worse, VS stopped responding trying to load the file. Good job, MS!

And you don’t think that’s a simple misconfiguration?

Not likely. The situation is the same on all of the stations. The association would have to have been be changed deliberately, or in the installation script. Visual Studio was the last application installed, with the full package and the defaults.

okay, but I still consider it a misconfiguration, even if it wasn’t at will. “Greedy” applications acquiring file associations are a problem on Linux, too.

Yes. You can open a textfile in OO or Gedit :slight_smile:
