i am new to linux.today i installed the opensuse 11.2 for my thesis work.
but after installation the screen goes blank no prompt, nothing
i have lennovo g460 with intel i5 core processor
please help me

Try adding “nomodeset” to the kernel boot options. (Just enter that at the boot menu)
But 11.2 is very old and not supported any more since more than 2 years. Why don’t you try with a newer version instead?
The current one is 12.3. You can download it here:

If you do want to stay with 11.2, you should consider to add the “Evergreen” repo:
https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Evergreen
Evergreen will support 11.2 until Nov. 2013.
