Apologies if this isn’t the right place or if this has been discussed.
OS: Tumbleweed(8months+)
Not the first time experiencing no video issues, but usually could fall back to one or the other driver.
The screen goes blank/black after the bootloader stage - there are no cursors, and no spinner (usually overlaid underneath the asus rog logo),
which makes me think it’s not the DM(but I’ve tried gdm, sddm, lightdm).
Graphics:
Integrated Graphics: Intel UHD Graphics 630
Dedicated Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060
What I’ve tried:
kernels 6.4 .2/.3/.4
prime-select intel
prime-select nvidia
prime-select offload
mitigations=off
ibt=off
journalctl
show no notable errros
What works:
nomodesetting - there’s a brief splash/boot screen with three green squares(never seen them otherwise) and then I get dropped off to a console login
When k6.4.2 first got installed via zypper dup
and there were no graphics on next reboot I dismissed it as an issue with the nvidia driver not having been updated for 6.4(was using previous for k6.3.9), so I just rolled back.
A week later nvidia did release a new driver matching k6.4.3 so I tried again with the result being the same.
Currently rocking 6.3.9 with latest nvidia(matching k6.4.3)
prime-select is offload
There were a lot of warning from objtool while compiling the nvidia module(s) - … missing int3 after … (quite a few screens)

You’re not alone in this, I have the same problem with two AMD Ryzen machines, I’m forced to avoid kernel updates, rollback saved my bacon many times.
Provide full output as root
journalctl -b --no-pager --full
in both cases (after booting with and without nomodeset

I think this hints at the driver requesting unreasonable resolution and as a result the screen goes dark.
I’ll look into this, and providing the full logs, over the weekend as this would require quite a few restarts

And I’m in the opposite experience related to this. I have two desktop machines (that I hand built), and two laptop machines. All four are running as AMD Ryzen machines - AMD as in, using AMD processors and AMD graphics cards. And all four were chosen to only use “AMD chipsets” on purpose.
I’ve never had to do a rollback, ever, on any of the four machines.
