I cannot get the new 11.2 to install on my machine. THe moment i hit enter at the boot prompt to begin installation, the scree just goes black and unresponsive - caps & scroll lock lights on the keyboard light up and remain lit. no disk activity whatsoever. I tried installing various resolutions, in text mode none gets past the black screen.
Acer aspire AM1100
Athlon XP 3600+ (64x2)
8GB ram
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
edit: Note - 11.1 never had this problem. Also it is not the same post install ATI driver issue from other threads. This hang up happens immediately after the boot prompt so I cannot even install 11.2
Thanks. I tried that and it didnt freeze immediately. It got to the loading bar but was not moving so i hit esc and saw it reading out some errors about error mask 4 and ata2 having transfer speed 1.5GBps? :\
I tried those options above and the results are all the same. The in place installation goes through however, just like from the DVD method, once the machine is restarted it hangs at boot.

kernel panic…boot from the DVD and run the memory checker…over
night, at least (10 to 12 hours)…
if/when you report back tell us about your hardware…especially your
graphics…
