I updated my tumbleweed kernel to 7.0.6-1 and my nvidia card is still working.
Yes, initcall_blacklist=sysfb_init does also work for me. Iâve rebooted a few times, but I havenât had any graphical issues so far.
However, Wi-Fi no longer works with my Intel AX210 card, but thatâs a different issue.

My Intel AX210 also stopped working after updating to kernel 7.0.6. And itâs not the first time a kernel update broke it.
Would it be possible to add at least the most common WiFi modules to automated testing?
Breaking WiFi on modern laptops that often times donât even have an integrated LAN port shouldnât be taken lightly.

Hello there! after 2 weeks of black/green/purple screens and hang during boot after kernel 7.0.2 update (still persisting with 7.0.6), this tweak on grub worked for me:
initcall_blacklist=sysfb_init
It finally reached SDDM correctly! No color screens

Yep, have the same on our 2nd PC - old 3 green dots bug, on mine plymouth works ok.

Same on an FM2+ PC booting from an old SATA SSD, Radeon RX 570. Itâs not related to nVidia.

It worked for me too, and completely fixes the black/corrupted screen issues, as well as the standby problem.
It worked for me too.
But when I try to use previous working 6.19.12 kernel my system freezes at the âLoading initial ramdiskâŚâ screen.I can no longer use this kernel.
The system only works with kernel 7.0.6. It also freezes briefly at this screen, but then loads.

Confirm the black/green screen is gone and everything works normally on 7.0.6 with 5080 using the parameter initcall_blacklist=sysfb_init.

initcall_blacklist=sysfb_init didnât worked for me. boot got stuck. 5070 here.
The first non Nvidia report I see. Thatâs interesting. Thanks for reporting it here.
Thatâs probably because Nvidia driver got updated and now KMP installed for 6.19.12 kernel is no longer compatible. Check output of zypper se -si nvidia-open-driver-G06-signed-kmp-default, there should be 2 versions 580.159.03_k7.0.5_1-2.3 and 580.126.18_k6.19.12_1-4.6. It shouldnât be a problem if you use nvidia-driver-G06-kmp-default tho.
P.S. Iâm blind. Maybe you need to manually rebuild KMP for 6.19.12. Check which one you have installed via sudo modinfo -k 6.19.12-1-default nvidia
After weeks of issues it finally works on my RTX5080. Before updating I removed âsplash=silentâ from the bootloader entries.

Check that your Nvidia driver is installed correctly. If it fails you wonât be able to do anything. You can try booting without that parameter and switching to TTY to check installation using zypper se -si nvidia kernel-default
Removing splash=silent is not a guaranteed workaround unfortunately. Works for some, doesnât work for others.
Until Nvidia driver is up and running you wonât be able to see TTY. So if anything is gonna go wrong (like root filesystem failed to mount or Nvidia driver is broken) you wonât be able to see or address it. Other than that nothing dangerous.
P.S. In case of full disk encryption that also means you have to enter password blindly if itâs being asked for.
I have the longterm kernel, and longterm nvidia driver installed. That combo is working fine. Should i remove that driver and install driver for kernel 7.0 ? I donât want to mess around if that is not a sure thing.

Can you compare the kernel parameters as well as nvidia packages installed? Please try adding nomodeset parameter. That was the combination that worked for me.
