Black screen on exiting full screen games.

OpenSuse 11.3 with nVidia drivers.

I have the screen working fine though it only runs in 1600x1200@75 using the nVidia driver (GTX260 card).
When I play a game in full screen mode all seems OK but when I exit the game then I just get the mouse pointer on a black screen.
There must be something present since the cursor changes as I move it, normal pointer -> hand over a link etc. It’s just that black on black isn’t very readable.

Same here, on a friends machine. Can’t remember the exact card, except it’s
an older nVidea AGP with passive cooling. He’s running openSUSE 11.2, and
the game was Torcs.

Any solutions welcome.

When in doubt, use brute force.

I think the card was an FX5500.

Same problem for me

OpenSuse 11.3 Kde 64 Bits installed on desktop with : AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4400+ / 2Gb CORSAIR DDR2 PC2-6400 - 800 MHz - CAS 4 / DD 320Gb Sata II / Nvidia 9600GT.
NVidia card 9600GT with proprietary 256.35 (problem still there with last 256.44)
I ran my desktop with LinuxMint, Mandriva, Kubuntu (both 32bits) and haven’t any problem like this with fullscreen games

How can we make to have a working solution ?

Try to disable desktop effect (Alt-Shift + F12)
Seem works for me
(I run some windows games with wine on my opensuse 11.3 + nvidia driver)

Yes of course it’s better desabling effects by Alt-Shift-F12 but with another distros it is not necessary because kwin manage those fullscreen apps correctly
