Black screen on 12.3 if I dont press ESC on Boot

As the title says, just updated to 12.3 and being left with a black screen after the GRUB menu. I do hear the beep you get when booting from my headphones.

I can avoid being left in the black if I press the ESC key jsut when the splash screen appears, thus showing me the booting process per se.
First, i tried with the stock 4.10 KDE from 12.3 release, then, tried KDE 4.10 from this repo:

[Index of /repositories/KDE:/Release:/410/openSUSE_12.3](http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/Release:/410/openSUSE_12.3/)

Same result.

Im using the standard opensource radeon drivers with an ATI HD4850.

OpenGL vendor string: X.Org
OpenGL renderer string: Gallium 0.4 on AMD RV770
OpenGL version string: 3.0 Mesa 9.0.2
OpenGL shading language version string: 1.30

Once inside KDE, i must say, this 12.3 version is insanely faster compared to 12.2

Thanks!

So have you tried setting the YaST / System / Boot Loader / Boot Loader Options to > Text Mode as shown below?

I also have a bash script called grub2cmd useful in setting many Grub2 options: GNU Grub2 Command Listing Helper with --help & Input - Blogs - openSUSE Forums

Thank You,

Well, thanks to your tip, i went into boot loader and found it was booting using GRUB, not GRUB2, so changed that and now its booting as it should, thanks !

AH SO, yet a different cause of the problem. Happy to hear you found a solution then.

Thank You,
