This is for those who don’t have videocard problems.
I got the black screen when logging in but still got to see
programs firing up. The simplest test if you got this type is
pressing alt+F2 and see if a launcher pops up.
If it does you don’t have a problem with your graphic-card or
it’s driver. You have a bad config of your plasma workspace. Ha!
Yes this is an old problem with Compiz, fire once it doesn’t
show, fire twice and it works now but crashes next time you log
back in.
This isn’t an obvious thing to do anymore as it’s has been pulled
together in Configure Desktop. However somehow this still
happened to me…
The simple way of ridding your self of this is basically this,
remove the offending config by removing it from your own /home
directory. .kde and .kde4 has the config file and no I never
figured out which one, I simply nuked both directories and
restarted with basically a clean desktop install.
If someone knows what might file needs to be fixed/deleted
please write it here.
Reason I write this down is because I could only find problems
with ATI cards with black screen and I’m guessing this isn’t a
problem only for me.
