Black Screen after "Welcome to Grub"

Hello people, sorry to bother you but I really need help with this one.
After my past VGA card died I replaced it, it was an nVidia 750TI who died and now I put a nVidia 1650SUPER, and yes, I know I should stop buying nVidia cards and I didi but that one was I got to replace for free until I buy an ARC/AMD

Now… since I had nVidia drivers I thought there wouldn’t be so much of an issue, in fact it looked ugly first boot but then I updated and everything seemed to work just fine until I reboot today.

When I should see the usual list of booting options (Since I have also Windows and Mint on this computer but the Grub is set by OpenSuse which is my daily driver) I see only a black screen, BUT without touching anything it boots on the last used system.
I tried blindly selecting from the list the other entries and they work flawlessly, so they are there and fine, the issue is the screen when should be rendering image on that specific moment.

I checked the BIOS at first, to ensure Secure Boot is disable, so that isn’t the problem, always been the same there, also the OS are installed as BIOS, not UEFI, so CSM is enable as well.

I also tried to change the Grub Theme with YAST and TBH it seems it is not working… but I only noticed it when opening with:

sudo nano /boot/grub2/grub.cfg

And realized the change to the theme wasn’t made… so I made it manually with nano and after saving I ran:

sudo grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub2/grub.cfg

Now it seems the Grub file retain the changes but I still see a blank screen after the “Welcome to Grub” message on boot.

Honestly I am kind of lost here, so ask me to run whatever command you want and I will update with the results but I have no clue on how to fix this, so please help.

Here are the specs of the system:

Operating System: openSUSE Leap 15.5
KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.9
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.103.0
Qt Version: 5.15.8
Kernel Version: 5.14.21-150500.55.88-default (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: X11
Processors: 6 × Intel® Core™ i5-8500 CPU @ 3.00GHz
Memory: 15.6 GiB of RAM
Graphics Processor: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 SUPER/PCIe/SSE2
Manufacturer: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd.
Product Name: Z370M DS3H

First and Foremost, Leap 15.5 is EOL, and has been for some time. I suggest upgrading to 15.6

I don’t know if it will fix your issue, but 15.5 is no longer receiving support, and most folks that might be able to help you are going to be offering solutions based on 15.6 being the supported version.

Do you see any messages from BIOS? Can you enter BIOS setup?

Yes I can, and I see until “Welcome to Grub!” then the screen goes black but I can move the arrows blindly to choose the boot entry and that works, however it is kind of annoying as you could imagine with 3 OS on that list.

Anyway… I tried upgrading to Leap 15.6 and something broke even worse, it wont even boot after that, I think there was an issue and that was my fault booting the Pendrive with the ISO as UEFI when the system was installed as BIOS, so I will later force everything into UEFI anyway or make a full clean install with time next weekend.

Sorry but this won’t help people who have the same issue because at the end I just screw it up and I am feeling quite sick since yesterday, so I doubt I will even advance on that matter until Friday.

Thanks anyway for the help and have a nice day all, please bury this so it won’t end up as a result for the people searching for a similar problem and finding this.
