I run TW/KDE/X11 and notice a black screen after suspend to ram (lid of laptop closed) since some days, potentially after the update to Kernel 7.0.x
Not possible to switch to a console or anything, only hard switch off
Anyone seen the same?

Do you have also Nvidia GPU or only Intel?
Hiya. Post output of inxi -GSaz please. It better shows your system information.

Note the acpi_sleep=nonvs I have just added to see if it makes a difference
It might be caused by 7.0 kernel. I know that 7.0 kernel may cause the same issue for Nvidia but first time hearing it happening on Intel. You might need to report this bug to SUSE. Have you checked system logs if they have any errors?
@DocB Hi there ![]()
I’m running Intel ARC (dGPU A380) and i915 and 7.0.3 kernel I don’t suspend though…
Another user here https://forums.opensuse.org/t/tumbleweed-black-screen/193643 but this was on boot, so could try;
update-bootloader --add-option i915.enable_psr=0
update-bootloader --add-option i915.enable_fbc=0
update-bootloader --config
The alternative xe driver must be getting close as well, I switch every now and again, but it’s mostly a media issue with some of the applications I run.
where were you when i needed you! took me ages to work that out
Thanks for the hint, but did not help.
I created
https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1264698
for this
Thanks for opening the bug. It happens to me too on Leap 16 with kernel 6. I believe it’s a bug in the NVidia drivers.
I discovered that rather than a hard reset, I could ssh in from somewhere else (my phone) and kill the X server. That’s still annoying but at least I don’t need to reboot. I’ve upgraded the NVidia drivers several times but it’s only gotten more frequent. Sure would be nice to have a fix!
Thats a different bug bug 1263834
My one is about the AMD/Intel graphics!
