Black screen after login Leap 16

After installing some software and adding the Packman repo, I am not able to get a graphical desktop. Only a black screen with movable mouse pointer after login. It goes for both me and administrator user.
I am on Leap 16.0 KDE desktop (when it is there…)
How can I diagnose the issue?
I do not think it is related to software updates, but then…what do I know?

Sparse on details…
Nvidia involved???

At what point does it fail?? Before/after login?

It happens just after the login screen, when I have typed my password.
It is a Lenovo Thinkcentre and I am pretty sure it is Intel Graphics.
I eventually also changed my UID in order to communicate with my NAS, but it booted normally after that.

And I see no error messages on screen during boot. Seem like everything is fine except for the graphical desktop.

I would like to try nomodeset but I am not sure where to put the parameter in GRUB. See photo (screenshot not possible)

the line with linux, behind selinux=1

Thank You. I just tried but the only difference it makes is that the login screen and later the black screen appears in a lower resolution. Could it be the KDE desktop that is corrupted?

I’m wondering if this may be behind your broken graphical environment. Boot up in multi-user mode, and login to a VT.

Examine the results from zypper se -si mesa. Look for Packman versions replacing Leap’s default mesa libraries. If necessary, switch back to the versions offered by the OSS repo. Let us know if you need help with any of these steps.
